SCCATA is proud to welcome Denali Fur to the Fur Auction each year as both a valued supporter and an educational partner. In addition to providing generous financial and in-kind donations, Denali Fur sets up a booth to showcase the incredible possibilities of ethically sourced furs. Their handcrafted, one-of-a-kind garments, accessories, and home décor demonstrate the artistry and value that can be created from harvested furbearers. By inspiring attendees with finished products and sharing their craftsmanship, Denali Fur helps educate the public, supports Alaska's fur industry, and encourages trappers to see the full potential and value of their harvests.

Our youth-run coffee and hot chocolate stand at the Fur Auction gives young volunteers the opportunity to serve the community while learning valuable customer service, teamwork, and small business skills. SCCATA does not profit from the stand—proceeds are used only to replenish supplies for future events, while all tips are kept by the youth volunteers as a reward for their hard work. This program encourages future volunteers, fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, and helps build the next generation of leaders within our trapping community.

Hide and Horn Auction Photo Gallery
Separate from the local trappers' fur auction, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game contracts with SCCATA to conduct the annual Hide and Horn Auction. Each year, ADF&G acquires wildlife materials through lawful confiscations, nuisance wildlife management, roadkill salvage, and other authorized means. Rather than allowing these items to go to waste, ADF&G makes them available to the public through the auction. Many of the hides, antlers, horns, and other wildlife materials are purchased by wildlife artisans and transformed into handcrafted items that are later sold at local fairs, markets, and other community events. The majority of the proceeds from the Hide and Horn Auction are returned to ADF&G, while SCCATA receives a small percentage of the sales to offset the costs of organizing, facilitating, and managing the event.

Steve Childs
Eli Pieper is a second-generation auctioneer who began pursuing his passion at an early age, attending auctioneer school when he was just 16 years old. Since then, he has gained extensive experience across a diverse range of auction industries, including benefit, real estate, farm, equipment, livestock, estate and fur auctions. Throughout his career, Eli has earned a reputation for his strong work ethic, adaptability, and natural ability to engage audiences. By combining the values of a family tradition with a modern, energetic approach, he brings professionalism, enthusiasm, and expertise to every event he conducts. Eli has been with the Fur Auction since 2025.
